Assistant or Associate Professor in Education: Secondary Science
The Faculty of Education, University of Calgary, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with research and teaching expertise in the field of secondary science education. The appointment will commence July 1, 2011, or a mutually agreeable date.
Applicants must have a doctorate in education, a strong beginning or established research and publication record, and teaching capabilities in theoretical and practical areas relating to the teaching and learning of secondary science. Teaching experience in K-12 and/or informal and post-secondary contexts, an interest in using distributed learning formats using a variety of technologies, and a demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively are also assets in the consideration of candidates.
The successful candidate will teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, maintain an active funded research program, supervise graduate students, and engage in service work for the university and the science education community. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build teaching and research collaborations through participation in the Faculty of Education’s strategic initiative in science, mathematics, engineering and technology education.
