Position Title: Assistant Professor of Physics

Position Description: This nine month, tenure-track position requires a Ph.D. in physics with an emphasis in physics education, or a Ph.D. in science education with a strong background in physics by the position hire date. The successful candidate will be able to teach introductory physics, science courses for non-science majors, and science methods courses and supervise student teachers. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, a plan for an active research program involving undergraduates, and evidence of commitment to service are expected. A history of involvement in K-12 science education and experience in securing extramural funds are desirable.
Qualifications and Experience: Minimum Requirements Ph.D. in physics with an emphasis in physics education, or a Ph.D. in science education with a strong background in physics. Salary and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits available include health, life, and dental insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
