Description: Earlham College invites applications for a Laboratory Manager in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. This is a full time, 10-month (August-May) administrative faculty appointment with benefits. Primary job duties include inventory management and laboratory support for the department of Physics and Astronomy.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage inventory of laboratory and demonstration equipment and supplies, including both introductory and advanced lab equipment
Perform repairs on equipment as needed
Set up and take down labs every week, supervising lab TAs as needed
Assist faculty in the development and implementation of new labs
Prepare classroom physics demonstrations
Assist faculty in the development and implementation of new demonstrations
May be asked to supervise one or more sections of introductory lab
Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in physics, engineering, or related field strongly preferred
Candidates from non-traditional paths possessing particularly strong lab experience and significant coursework in physics will be considered
Ability to make minor repairs to laboratory equipment is required, including basic electronics and hardware skills
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively is essential
Experience with inventory management is a plus
