The faculty member will serve as the Quincy College academic expert within the field of Physics, and carry out other job related duties as assigned. Duties which may be assigned to a faculty member are set forth in the Quincy Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Responsibilities unique to this position include:
Develop a 15-week calculus based Physics I course which will run in spring of 2017.
Develop a 15-week calculus based Physics II course which will run in fall 2017.
Manage a budget to set up a calculus based physics lab.
Interface with math faculty, engineering faculty, and laboratory coordinator is necessary during developmental phases of courses.
Interface with the senate as necessary to gain approval for proposed courses.
Teach algebra based physics courses as necessary.
Teach calculus courses if necessary.
Other responsibilities include student advising, serving on College committees and other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.
Assume a leadership role in delineating and articulating content in assigned lectures and laboratories.
Develop calculus based Physics 1 and Physics 2 courses.
Manage a budget to develop a calculus based Physics lab.
Teach lecture and laboratory courses in physics, calculus, and as otherwise directed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and/or the Dean of the Natural and Health Sciences Program.
Collaborate with other appropriate faculty in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of physics lectures and laboratories.
Collaborate with other appropriate faculty to facilitate and integrate correlated approach to course offerings.
Participate with others in the annual review or revision of course outlines, bibliographies, study guides, media, and other related course materials.
Demonstrate motivation, self-direction, and perseverance towards achieving philosophy and mission of the Science Program.
Engage in the academic life of the college by serving on college committees.

Travel: This position may require teaching at both the Quincy Campus or Plymouth Campus. If teaching on multiple campuses is required, scheduled assignments will be made to make sure that the Instructor teaches on one campus per day.

Work Year: 162 day
Educational Experience: Master's degree in Physics, or related science field, from an accredited college or university required.
Minimum of three (3) years college teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting;
Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission;
Experience instructing students from a diverse background;
Experience using multiple measures to assess student learning.
Experience teaching in the laboratory, trouble shooting laboratory experiments, contributing to experimental design.
