Job Description The Department of Natural Sciences at Shawnee State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Physics at the Assistant Professor level, to begin in August 2017. Candidates should have a strong interest in undergraduate teaching and the desire to involve undergraduate students in research.

Teaching duties may include introductory physics courses at the algebra and calculus-based levels, upper-division physics, a scientific reasoning and methodology course, physical science by inquiry for education majors, and other courses as needed. Other duties include serving on department, college or university committees; engagement in professional development/scholarly activities; and a willingness to engage with students in out-of-classroom co-curricular activities.

Shawnee State University is the regional state university for South-Central Ohio. It is a primarily undergraduate, four-year public university with limited graduate degree programs. Enrollment is approximately 3,900 students. Shawnee State is located on the Ohio River in Portsmouth, Ohio – a small city nestled in a beautiful, rural area of Southern Ohio. Portsmouth is approximately an hour drive from Huntington, WV, and two hours from Columbus or Cincinnati, Ohio. Additional information about SSU is available at
