The Department of Physics is a small, well-equipped department offering a B.S. degree in Physics and 2+2 and 3+2 pre-engineering programs in collaboration with engineering schools. It produces about 15 graduates each academic year and has good success in placing its graduates into graduate programs, high-school teaching positions, and technical jobs. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- The primary responsibility is teaching undergraduate physics courses.
- Scholarship involving undergraduates and service on campus and in the region are also expected.
- Candidates must show evidence demonstrating an ability to implement a research program. In particular, the candidate must demonstrate clear plans for involving undergraduates in his or her own research or for generating other advanced projects for our physics majors.
- A Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field is required with postdoctoral and teaching experience preferred.
- Experience or interest in teaching a section of introductory astronomy desired.
- Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching and student success.
