Job Summary

Drexel’s Physics Education Research Network [D-PERN] is hiring a post-doctoral scholar to work on an NSF funded project which aims to extend the characterization of active learning environments in physics through social network analysis and classroom observations using COPUS.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise graduate and undergraduate students
  • Present at national/international conferences and publication of scientific results in peer-reviewed journals as lead author
  • Self-starter, able to work independently
  • Keep, manage, and organize large amounts of data
  • Perform and have knowledge of common network analysis techniques

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Doctorate in Physics, physical science, science education, learning sciences, or related field or foreign equivalent, by time of appointment is expected

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in R programming
  • Experience working with, managing, and organizing large datasets

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

College of DuPage seeks a full-time faculty member to teach Physics courses starting in August 2023.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a full range of freshman and sophomore physics courses, from non-science major courses to a modern physics course for engineering students.

We are actively seeking innovative, collaborative colleagues who regularly examine their pedagogy and practices in order to foster more equitable, accessible, and inclusive student learning.

Faculty duties include classroom instruction, assessment, curriculum development, advising students, professional inquiry, committee work and engaging with instructional technology.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in the content area, or a Master's degree plus 18 semester hours of graduate level credit in the discipline of instruction required. 
  • Teaching experience in Higher Education required. Teaching experience in a community college preferred.

PER Postdoc, University of Colorado Boulder, Heather Lewandowski Group

 Postdoc position in Physics Education Research at JILA and the

University of Colorado-Boulder in the group of Heather Lewandowski.

 

Have a PhD in experimental physics, chemistry, or engineering and want a pathway into the field of Physics Education Research? Or a PhD in PER already? Come work with us in a collaborative, interdisciplinary group located in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains!

 

Applications are being accepted for a post-doctoral position to work on a PER project to examine how skills around measurement uncertainty can be gained through working with new, specially designed PhET simulations. The ultimate goal is to integrate these tools into physics lab courses. The successful candidate will have a PhD in physics, chemistry, engineering, physics education, or related field. Good oral and written communication skills are strongly valued.
