The instructor will have the opportunity to teach a variety of general education physics (algebra and calculus-based) and sophomore-level engineering courses to both science and non-science majors, including associated laboratory sections. Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in the complementary field (Physics or Engineering) highly desirable, along with a strong mathematical background. Community college teaching experience preferred. SUMMARY
As a member of the Physics Department in the Division of Natural Sciences (www.nic.edu/natsci), the physics instructor will provide instruction in approximately four courses per semester. The teaching assignment may be selected from the following courses: Phys 101, Phys 103, Phys 111, Phys 112, Phys 211, Phys 212 (www.nic.edu/catalog). Depending on a candidate’s academic degrees the teaching assignment could include selected mathematics and/or engineering courses.
The Department: The Physics department is a small department consisting of two full time faculty members and one part time instructor. The Physics department serves majors in physics, engineering, and math. The Physics department’s small class sizes, supportive faculty and facilities provide an excellent learning environment for all physics students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list includes but is not limited to the following:
- Teaches a minimum of 15 equivalent credit hours per semester as assigned and maintains additional weekly contractual hours, including a minimum of five office hours, five campus hours and five discretionary hours divided between office and campus hours for a total of 30 hours on campus per week

The School of STEM offers seven undergraduate degrees and two graduate degrees within its four Divisions of Biological Sciences, Computing and Software Systems, Engineering and Mathematics, and Physical Sciences. Interactive Media Design and Mathematics degrees were launched in Autumn 2013, a degree in Chemistry is planned to begin in the Fall of 2014 and degrees in Physics, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering are planned for initiation during the next two to four years. Qualifications for this position include a minimum of three of the following:
1) Familiarity and experience with modern teaching methods in physics (including lab).
2) Familiarity with a variety of assessment tools.
3) Familiarity with the physics education literature and/or participation in STEM education conferences or other similar activities.
4) Familiarity with up to date laboratory safety techniques and rules.
5) Experience in supervising other laboratory instructors, developing new and engaging laboratory experiments and pedagogy for Physics.
6) Experience in developing Physics curriculum.
All University lecturers engage in teaching and service. Successful candidates for appointment at the rank of Lecturer Full-time will have an earned Ph.D. in physics or related field and have at least one year of teaching experience in physics. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate: ability to work independently and as part of a team; the ability to work with a diverse student population and employ a variety of instructional strategies. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in excess of the one-year minimum and a demonstrated ability to contribute broadly to the emerging physical sciences programs at UW Bothell. The School of STEM offers seven undergraduate degrees and two graduate degrees within its four Divisions of Biological Sciences, Computing and Software Systems, Engineering and Mathematics, and Physical Sciences. Interactive Media Design and Mathematics degrees were launched in Autumn 2013, a degree in Chemistry is planned to begin in the Fall of 2014 and degrees in Physics, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering are planned for initiation during the next two to four years. We also offer masters degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering, a masters degree in Cyber Security Engineering beginning fall 2013, and plan to offer a masters degree in Electrical Engineering beginning fall 2014. Our present laboratory facilities will be augmented in Autumn 2014 by the new 74,000 square-foot Science and Academic Building, which will include eleven new science and engineering laboratories.

Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and
Sciences (CAS), Department of Physics invites applications for a
tenure-track position in physics at the rank of Assistant Professor,
beginning August 2014. The physics department consists of seven
tenure-track/tenured faculty members and six full-time Lecturers. The
faculty has active research programs in the areas of astrophysics,
biophysics, cosmology, general relativity, gender and science anxiety,
granular media, musical acoustics, experimental and theoretical
high-energy physics, and quantum mechanics. The department offers B.S.
degrees in Physics, Theoretical Physics/Applied Mathematics,
Physics/Computer Science, and Biophysics, as well as a dual B.S./M.Ed.
degree. The department has partnered with several engineering schools in
the implementation of dual degree physics/engineering programs. With
more than 100 majors, LUC/CAS has one of the largest undergraduate
physics programs among all BS-degree granting departments in the nation.
