The Sciences have always been one of Franklin College's strongest academic disciplines. Our graduates, who have an 80%+ acceptance rate for professional schools, are employed by employers such as Eli Lilly Inc., Dow AgroSciences, Heritage Environmental, and the Department of Environmental Management. In order to continue this tradition of success and meet the changing needs of our students, we recently began a two- pronged strategic initiative. The first requires implementation of a newly designed curriculum with a higher emphasis on hands-on learning, including participation in independent research projects or specialized internships, and on the application of new technologies. We expect the successful candidate to be able to use four recently-acquired ultrasound imaging units in teaching current courses, involving students in undergraduate research or design ultra-sound imaging related courses that contribute to our premed curriculum. The second involves a capital campaign and construction/renovation of the campus science facilities. As we move the project through the planning and building phases, input from each individual member of the Natural Science Division will be critical to ensure the end product meets the needs of, and vision for, his/her specialty.
Franklin faculty members receive funds for professional development and have access to a variety of benefit programs as outlined at http://franklincollege.edu/about-fc/human-resources/benefits/.
