Postdoctoral Fellow
 
 
The STEM Education Innovation and Research Institute at IUPUI seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Fellow to focus on research and evaluation on a variety of STEM education projects. This Postdoctoral Fellow will play an integral role in the continued development of SEIRI and in the STEM education initiatives at IUPUI. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has the goal to develop an academic career focused on teaching, research, and evaluation of STEM projects.
 
Responsibilities
·       Working with faculty to develop research designs and methods for data collection, and analysis for local and national grants (e.g., NSF proposals).
·       Developing evaluation designs and methods for data collection and analysis for local and national grants.
·       Serving as an evaluator on local and national grant-funded projects.
·       Contributing to peer-reviewed publications produced by SEIRI.
·       Collaborating with a team of SEIRI personnel which includes faculty, other professionals, undergraduate students, and graduate students on STEM education research.
 
SEIRI staff are currently the evaluators and researchers on multiple NSF funded and pending grants (see http://seiri.iupui.edu). The selected candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in preparing proposals in STEM education for internal and external funding sources.
 
Required Qualifications
·       Doctoral degree in a STEM discipline with experience and interest in doing discipline-based education research.
·       Prior experience designing, implementing, and interpreting mixed methods research or evaluation.
·       Excellent oral and written communication skills.
·       Certification to work in the United States (OPT, H1B).
 
Preferred Qualifications
·       Experience with designing and completing STEM education research projects that have led to publication(s).
·       Experience with consulting on and evaluating STEM educational innovations.
·       Ability to manage multiple evaluation and research projects.
·       Publications in refereed journals and/or conference proceedings.
·       Evidence of participation in proposal development for grant applications for external funding.
·       Evidence of successful teaching experience in undergraduate or graduate programs.
·       Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Intro Physics Part-Time/Adjunct Lecturers, ISLE Approach, Rutgers - Newark

 Intro Physics Lecturer Position at Rutgers - Newark starting Fall 2023


We are looking for part time Lecturers (adjuncts) to join our introductory physics teaching team at Rutgers - Newark. All of our introductory physics courses follow the Investigative Science Learning Environment (ISLE) approach. 300 students enroll in our courses each semester, taught by a team of 10 instructors and 10 undergraduate Learning Assistants. Drs. Josh Rutberg, Sheehan Ahmed, and Diane Jammula are the team leaders - we design the curriculum, run weekly training meetings, and offer ongoing support. ISLE developer Dr. Eugenia Etkina is a mentor. This is a great opportunity to strengthen your understanding and implementation of ISLE, build your community of practice, and gain experience in college teaching. We support our Lecturers in meeting their professional goals; previous Lecturers have become full time college faculty, high school teachers, and sought PhDs. In the Fall 2023 semester, we are hiring lab instructors and one “Large Group Meeting” instructor. Lecturers are paid > $1933 per credit (this amount will increase with our new contract) and are compensated for time in training meetings. The faculty of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a full-time, professional-track position at the rank of Instructor to begin August 16, 2023. The position is a 9-month appointment with a teaching load of 8 courses for the academic year. This is an annual appointment that may be renewed contingent upon the Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.

Candidates must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in physics, astronomy, or a related field. A Ph.D. in physics or a closely related discipline at the time of the appointment is strongly preferred. Experience teaching introductory physics and astronomy courses at the university level is also strongly preferred. Applicants must have demonstrated a strong commitment to and enthusiasm for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will teach introductory astronomy and physics classes for majors and non-majors. They will also have an opportunity to participate in physics and astronomy outreach events.

TT Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics & Biophysics, University of San Diego, CA [Starts Fall 2024]

 The Department of Physics and Biophysics at the University of San Diego, a primarily undergraduate institution, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship to start in Fall 2024. The successful candidate should demonstrate the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and the capacity to establish a research program tailored to undergraduates. We are open to candidates with research expertise in biophysics (particularly with a computational and/or neurophysics focus), applied physics, observational and experimental astrophysics, physics education research, and climate/atmospheric physics. Applicants who have other areas of research are highly encouraged to apply as well.
