Senior-level, tenure-track position as Chair of the Curriculum and Teaching Department. The Chair provides visionary, academic leadership for a highly accomplished department that plays a central role in Montclair State's nationally acclaimed teacher education program, including special education. The Department offers undergraduate and graduate pre-service and advanced teacher education courses. Responsibilities include mentoring new faculty members; supporting faculty scholarship, publishing and professional activities; leading curriculum development; and representing the department at college and university meetings. The Chair is supported by a department administrator, a secretary, and faculty program coordinators. The Chair teaches one undergraduate or graduate course per semester.
Doctorate in Curriculum and Teaching or a related field. A record of excellence in teaching at the higher education and K-12 levels or equivalent and higher education administrative or program coordination experience. An active, well-defined research agenda, record of scholarship, and scholarly publications that merit appointment at Associate or full Professor rank. Successful experience as a collaborative leader; strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills; and a thorough understanding of the research and policy arena related to the education and licensure of teachers.
