Science-ed at Loyola Maryland

The Teacher Education Department is looking to fill a new tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level for a science educator with an emphasis on secondary (grades 6-12) science.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Teacher Education Department and also work closely with faculty and chairs of the science departments to establish a strong program that prepares students to be highly qualified science teachers at the high school and middle school levels. The candidate is expected to develop innovative educational programs in science education, to seek foundation and external grant support science education projects, to work with science departments to revise curriculums and recruit students into the STEM teaching fields, to work with local school districts to recruit graduate-level students, and to disseminate research on the effectiveness of new instructional strategies. Candidates with a scholarly and a pedagogical interest in science education in diverse urban settings are preferred. The candidate will teach courses such as methods of teaching sciences and related fields and take a leadership role in advancing the department's program in science education. Candidates should also possess experience in and a commitment to urban education. Applicants must have a Ph.D. with teaching, research, and grant writing experience in science education.
