The Fort Lewis College Department of Physics and Engineering invites applications for
an anticipated tenure-track faculty position starting Fall 2009.
Although teaching is of primary importance at Fort Lewis College, the successful
applicant will also be expected to carry out research, design, or other scholarly work
involving undergraduates. In addition, the successful applicant will help the department
continue to foster a thriving community atmosphere among faculty and students.
Our Physics & Engineering Department offers a B.S. degree in physics in one of three
options including an ABET-accredited Engineering-Physics option, and provides several
of the college's most popular upper- and lower-division general education and service
courses outside the major. The ideal candidate should be eager and qualified to teach
courses in all of these areas.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. (in hand by August 15, 2009) in engineering-physics, mechanical
engineering, or closely related discipline.
Successful college teaching experience is a significant plus, particularly if the
candidate is well versed in the use of modern pedagogical techniques.
