Science-ed at Elmhurst College

The Department of Education at Elmhurst College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Science Education to begin August 2009. Position responsibilities include teaching K-12 undergraduate science education courses, teaching graduate courses, advising, and collaborating with College science faculty and K-12 educators. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teaching skills for contributing to undergraduate and graduate programs, including administration of the accredited K-12 science education programs. Candidates should have an earned doctorate and at least three years of recent experience as a certified teacher or science curriculum coordinator in accredited U.S. schools. Candidates should provide evidence of effective teaching and collaboration skills. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should demonstrate the potential for establishing a research program in science education and the ability to supervise student teachers and interns. Applicants at the Associate Professor level must have at least six years of proven excellence in college teaching, teacher supervision, scholarship in science education, and collaborative service. Experience with accreditation at the state and national level is highly desirable. Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2008, and continue until the position is filled.
