TT at U Wisconsin-Whitewater

Founded in 1868, The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is a regional comprehensive institution located in southeast Wisconsin, with an enrollment of 10,500 students in 43 undergraduate majors and 13 master’s degree programs. The 26-member Department of Curriculum and Instruction is seeking applications for an assistant professor tenure-track position in Science Education K-8 beginning in the academic year 2009-2010. The person hired for this position will be responsible for research, service, teaching, supervising, and advising. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the teaching of science in grades K-8, this position includes supervision of clinical experiences, advising, working directly with local schools to coordinate a short field study during a science methods course for elementary pre-service teachers, and providing consultation on graduate theses and projects. Additional responsibilities include conducting educational research and serving on department, college, and university committees.

We are seeking qualified candidates with a) an earned doctorate in science education, or equivalent (ABD status, or current pursuit of a doctorate will be considered), b) three years of K-12 classroom teaching experience, and c) evidence of scholarly productivity or well-developed research agenda. Teaching experience at the university level, expertise in the integration of technology into curriculum, and/or multicultural education are highly desirable.
