The College of Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for two full-time tenure-track Faculty positions in Physics to begin in September of 2009 and 2010 respectively.
The College of Applied Science is a fully accredited baccalaureate college with an international reputation for delivering innovative education in science and technology. The Mathematics and Physics Department currently numbers 27 full-time faculty and provides Mathematics and Physics courses in support of the College programs. The primary focus of the Mathematics & Physics Department is teaching. These are nine-month appointments with the possible opportunity to teach during alternating summers or part-time every summer. The positions require a minimum of a Masters degree in Physics and experience in teaching in higher education within this discipline. The candidate must be willing to teach undergraduate Physics classes in both the day and evening as part of the regular load, as well as possibly manage the operation of the Physics Laboratory.
Since these are full-time teaching positions, an ability to demonstrate teaching excellence will be required. Ability to cooperate with other Faculty Members in offering sections of common courses is necessary. Excellent oral and written communications skills are required. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal professionally, effectively, and courteously with faculty, students, staff, administrators, and the public are required. Other duties will include advising/ counseling students, participating in scholarly and professional activities and serving on department, college and university committees.
