Program Director at Johns Hopkins

General Description:
Essential Duties: ? Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the School?s vision for distance education. ? Lead teams of writers and subject matter experts to produce instructional materials that are functional, informative, and consistent with sound instructional design principles. ? Collaborate, consult with, and train faculty and associates on the effective use of instructional design strategies, web-based resources and tools, and multimedia technologies to improve teaching for online delivery. ? Design and conduct mixed-method research/evaluation studies to examine the effects of various components of online delivery on learning and present results to professional groups. ? Facilitate the use a systematic assessment-based instructional design process to create online activities and assessments that effectively meet targeted learning outcomes. ? Manage project timelines and coordinate with web developers and multimedia specialists to meet project deliverables. This candidate will provide leadership in a growing team to support new online learning initiatives. An ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented team player who is capable of participating in high collaborative instructional development processes and activities. The candidate must have strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with multiple constituencies in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Also, it is important that the candidate has the ability to exercise independent judgment and solve problems in creative and productive ways. The candidate must have knowledge of pedagogical issues related to online teaching and learning, adult learning, and current and emerging instructional technologies, as well as basic knowledge of streaming audio and video, compression methods, file types, formats, and graphic design elements appropriate for online instruction. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to train one-on-one and in a group setting. Qualifications:



A doctorate degree in instructional design, instructional technology, curriculum design, or other related discipline is preferred. A Master?s degree is required. Ideal candidates have a minimum of three years of professional experience designing, developing, and managing online, blended or other technology-mediated instruction, as well as evidence of scholarly activity.
