Government Relations Specialist at APS

The American Physical Society (APS) http://www.aps.org, the major professional association for physicists, has an exciting opportunity for a physicist familiar with the legislative process to fill the position of Government Relations Specialist. The position is based at the APS Office of Public Affairs in Washington, DC in the National Press Building. Responsibilities include analyzing federal science research and education budgets; developing and implementing advocacy strategies on STEM-Ed issues; representing APS and the Office of Public Affairs at selected advocacy coalition meetings, scientific meetings, APS national & divisional meetings, and APS committee meetings; delivering lectures on science policy issues at universities, national laboratories, and other venues. Ph.D. in Physics necessary and interest in physics education required (experience desirable). Good understanding of APS membership culture helpful. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Salary is commensurate with experience.
