Teaching Fellow at Queen Mary, University of London
The School of Physics and Astronomy is seeking to employ a suitably qualified Teaching Fellow to promote and contribute to the delivery of high quality teaching and scholarship.
As part of this role, the Teaching Fellows will be expected to:
Deliver foundation level modules on the topics of Electricity and Atomic Physics, and Fields and Waves
Review and explore innovative methods of teaching delivery, including the design of laboratory experiments
Enhance assessment feedback to students;
Contribute to the School's outreach programme.
Candidates should have an excellent academic background and, ideally, a PhD or equivalent in the physical sciences, or commensurate experience. Post-holders will be adept at delivering a physics curriculum at pre-undergraduate level. Experience of teaching large classes with also be advantageous.
This is a full time position which will be for one year fixed term in the first instance with the possibility of being extended thereafter. The normal working hours are 24 hours per week.
Successful candidates must be able to take up appointments on 1st September 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary will be in the range of £33,944 to £39,936 per annum (pro-rata), subject to experience and qualifications. Benefits include 30 days annual leave (pro-rata), an interest-free season ticket loan, childcare vouchers' scheme and a defined benefit pension scheme.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
