Two-Year STEM Teacher Education, Union Grad School of Education, Schenectady NY

The Union Graduate College School of Education seeks a dynamic educator for a two year faculty appointment at the assistant professor rank, with the expectation that a tenure track position will follow.  UGC seeks candidates with experience teaching secondary science as well as mentoring and/or teaching graduate/undergraduate students who are preparing to be secondary science or math teachers.  The successful applicant will be a creative problem-solver with a growth mindset.  He/she will demonstrate the ability to teach both general and science pedagogy courses, conduct research, recruit and advise students, and actively participate in the development of the School of Educations teacher preparation programs as well as service activities of the College. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed (or are nearing completion of) a doctoral degree in Science Education, or applicants with National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification.
 Union Graduate College offers master's level programs in Education, Management, Engineering, and Bioethics. UGC anticipates merging with Clarkson University, a prominent STEM institution, in 2016.
 The School of Educations well respected MAT program is accredited by TEAC; UGC is one of only four schools in New York State with a 100% passing rate for 2014 graduates on the EdTPA.  The School of Education offers MAT concentrations in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Technology, as well as English, Social Studies and six languages.  
 Located in Schenectady, Union Graduate College is part of the Capital Region of New York and within easy driving (or train) distance from New York City, Boston, Montreal, and Buffalo. It is also just south of the resort town of Saratoga Springs, and very near Vermont, the Berkshire Mountains, Adirondack Mountains, and the Lake George Region. There are excellent hiking, skiing, boating, camping, and other recreational opportunities nearby.
 Review of applicants will begin on May 15, 2015 and continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2015.
