General Statement of Duties: | Mount Wachusett Community College is a Community College committed to fostering civic learning and community engagement in its educational offerings. A faculty member’s workload shall consist of the following duties: instructional duties and non-instructional duties (i.e. office hours, college service, community service, and professional development). |
Qualifications: | Master’s degree in physics or engineering required. PhD preferred; College teaching experience required; preferably 3-5 years in a community college setting; Ability to instruct all areas of mathematics, from developmental math through calculus and ability to teach all levels of physics from introductory level to calculus based physics; Experience using Blackboard or similar learning management product and the demonstrated abilities to use computer-aided instruction preferred; Understanding of and experience in civic engagement, cooperative education, and service learning preferred; Evidence of commitment to classroom teaching and learning; Ability to work effectively with and advise students from a culturally and educationally diverse population on how to meet their goals is essential. |

Responsibilities: | A Faculty member shall be responsible for such community service and professional development activities as mutually agreed by the President of the College or the President’s designee and the faculty member. Consistent with the principles and standards of academic freedom and responsibilities, support the college’s mission to infuse service learning and civic engagement into the classroom as applicable. Teaches business courses as assigned by the Division Dean; Participates in student assistance/advisement; Maintains office hours; Participates in college service activities (i.e. college committees, meetings, activities, etc.); Participates in community service and professional development activities. |
