JOB SUMMARY:
Physics instructor to teach Physics I and II, algebra based, at Lander College for Men, a division of Touro College in Flushing, NY. General physics curriculum is geared for students preparing for careers in health professions: medicine, dentistry, optometry, physical therapy, etc. Two lectures plus one lab session per week. Position for 2015-2016 academic year runs from late August through early June. Position might expand to include 10-week summer session for Physics I and II.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and delivers lectures to undergraduate students
- Supervises and grades students' laboratory work
- Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, tests, handouts, etc.
- Maintains regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students
- Participates in assessment activities and curriculum development for physics courses.
- Collaborates with colleagues to address teaching issues
Education, Preparation, and Training
- PhD or M.S. in physics or physical science
- Significant teaching experience in physics to prepare students for graduate programs in the health sciences, medicine and dentistry
- Excellent communication skills and English proficiency.
- Trains and teaches others

- Updating and using relevant knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal skills; communicating with supervisors, peers and subordinates
