Temporary Instructor, Western Illinois

Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will have to teach effectively in both lecture and laboratory settings at the undergraduate level, servicing students of physics, pre-engineering, and other science and pre-professional disciplines.  It is also desirable for the successful candidate to be able to provide research opportunities for undergraduate students.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: M.S. in Physics and additional graduate level work.  Strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and beginning levels.  Experience in working in an instructional or research laboratory setting with undergraduate physics majors, as well as majors from other disciplines.  Must be an adept public speaker. 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Physics or very closely related discipline.  Preference will be given to candidates whose specialization of research will provide opportunities for collaborative work with existing physics faculty and contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives within the university.  Post-doctoral experience with a strong record of independent research.  Commitment to teach both physics and astronomy at beginning undergraduate levels.
