Physics Educational Technology Specialist, Vernier Software & Tech, Beaverton OR

SUMMARY
Provides technical support and training in the use of Vernier products, primarily in the field of physics. Develops and tests new products including sensors, software, curricula and other written material. Based out of the Vernier office in Beaverton, Oregon.
 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Answers technical questions and assists customers by phone and email. Emphasis will be on helping physics instructors, but may include other disciplines from time to time.
  • Develops and tests new hardware and software.
  • Travels to work at conferences, to present workshops, and for product demonstrations.
  • Provides teacher training at the Vernier office and at schools both locally and around the country.
  • Performs quality control checks on existing products.
  • Writes and/or edits curricula, product documentation, articles, and marketing copy.
  • A significant responsibility will include the development of new physics products. The person will help define and specify projects from vague concepts, and will drive projects from idea phase to shipping products.
QUALIFICATIONS

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in physics from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
  • Recent experience teaching physics using Vernier products at the high school, two-year college, or four-year college/university level is required.
  • Significant experience using desktop computer systems running Windows and Mac OSX.
  • Familiarity with mobile technology use in an educational environment.
