POSITION
  SUMMARY

Young people grow up in Washington
  surrounded by a thriving science, technology, engineering, and math
  (STEM)-based economy, yet they don’t always receive the support they need to
  participate. Washington STEM is a nonprofit committed to advancing equity,
  excellence, and innovation in STEM education for all students in Washington
  state, with an emphasis on students of color, girls, low-income, and rural
  students - students who are more likely to face disparities. 
The Impact Manager/Director will
  lead all research, evaluation, and data analytics activities for Washington
  STEM for purposes of informing organizational priorities and maximizing
  impacts for students of Washington state. This work will include leading: 
·        
  Synthesis and analysis of existing state and national data
  sets to identify key trends, gaps, and opportunities for impact  
·        
  Development and execution of applied measurement with partners
  in the field 
·        
  Generation of key data points and data-driven insights to
  advance professional learning and improvement among Washington STEM staff and
  partners  
·        
  Creation of reports, both ad hoc and formal, to communicate learnings
  and impact to ecosystem leaders, funders, and partners

ESSENTIAL
  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
 | 
 |
| 
   
·        
  Create and subsequently update annual State of STEM impact
  report by providing research and underlying data analysis of Washington STEM’s
  impact over time; to include: 
o    Research into STEM landscape and
  synthesis of existing reports and state level research 
o    In partnership with other staff, perform
  analysis into focus areas, such as early math, computer science, science and
  engineering, and career connected learning, and vehicles for change such as
  collective impact networks and policy, to understand and enable key
  indicators and leverage points and best practice research 
o    Develop impact measures and lead program
  evaluation activities 
·           
  Organize and execute data collection activities, such as site
  visits, and community of practice activities to enable learning and
  improvement 
·           
  Prepare documents, portions of reports, briefs, charts, and
  graphs that describe and interpret findings of analyses (e.g. map of computer
  science course penetration across state high schools) 
·           
  Communicate and translate findings to multiple audiences in
  non-technical language as a catalyst for change 
·           
  Present research findings and related recommendations to key
  targeted audiences 
·           
  Prepare the research/evaluation sections of micro, portfolio,
  and major grant investment Request for Proposals (RFPs); review and analyze
  evaluation sections of submitted proposals 
·           
  Prepare publication reporting (trade journals)

QUALIFICATIONS
  AND EXPERIENCE 
 | 
 |
| 
   
Education and Work Experience: 
·              
  Advanced degree in educational research statistics or
  quantitative social sciences or equivalent experience required  
Management and Communication: 
·              
  Ability to manage and balance multiple tasks and priorities 
·              
  Strong written and verbal communication skills  
·              
  Ability to coach and teach other stakeholders 
·              
  Ability to work independently and as a member of a team; can
  forge relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders across P-16
  education 
·              
  Demonstrated ability to present complex, technical information
  in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences
