EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY, VISITING PROFESSOR of PHYSICS


The Eastern Michigan University Depart­ment of Physics and Astronomy invites ap­plications for a full-time, one-year visiting professorship, beginning August 2023. Eastern Michigan University is located in southeastern Michigan and boasts a vibrant and dynamic community. The Department of Physics and Astronomy is committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive environment that supports excellence in education. The Department is housed in a recently renovated building with expansive research space, a machine shop and collaborative work environments.


Re­spon­si­bilities of this one-year position include teaching a range of undergraduate and graduate physics courses (including graduate optics), supervising students in independent study and working with graduate students conducting research.


Qualifications:
Ph.D. in physics or applied physics
Evidence of ability or potential to teach upper-level optics courses
Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and identities

The Department currently has research facilities in thin films and surface science, optics, and plasma physics. Teaching commitment approximately 12 credit hours per semester.
