Job Description Summary

The Science Department at Cabrini College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics, beginning in August of 2016. Candidates should be able to teach a wide variety of courses in Physics for Science and Math Majors and teach physics/ physical science for non-majors. The candidate will be expected to regularly teach Physics I and II (algebra and calculus based sections), a non-majors conceptual physics course and possibly another physical science course for non-majors. In addition to teaching 12 credits per semester in the major and the general education curriculum, other primary responsibilities include student advising, supervising student internships, capstone projects, and undergraduate student research. Also expected is service to the department and the college, and continuing scholarly and professional activities. The Cabrini College Science Department provides courses for an undergraduate major, minor, and the general education curriculum of the college. Postdoc at Florida International University

The STEM Transformation Institute at Florida International University in Miami, seeks to fill a post-doctoral researcher position for our NSF funded project "Beyond Active Learning: Learning Assistant (LA) Supported Pedagogies in Large Lecture Science Courses." The project is a collaboration between the University of Colorado Denver (lead institution), Florida International University, and North Dakota State University. Our work will investigate how active learning methods and undergraduate Learning Assistant support contribute to the learning gains, achievement, retention, and persistence of learners. Research questions are: 1) What are the activities employed in undergraduate science courses?, 2) How can these activities be understood in terms of a cognitive process framework?, 3) How are LAs involved in supporting these activities?, and 4) How does engaging in these activities with and without LA support contribute to student level outcomes?

One postdoctoral researcher will be housed at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Start date: spring 2016/summer 2016.

Candidates should have completed their PhD in a science education research field (e.g. science education, or biology, chemistry, or physics education) or in a science field with significant interest and experience in education research. The ideal candidates will have experience working in undergraduate science education research, and have strong quantitative research skills and experience, including survey and concept inventory data collection and analysis, classroom observation, and HLM. The position is for one year. The Physics and Astronomy Department at Swarthmore has seven physicists, two astronomers, and roughly 15 students per class year in the physics or astrophysics majors. Job Summary	The Department of Physics and Geosciences at Angelo State University invites applications for the position of Planetarium Director and Assistant Professor. This is a tenure-track position.
Duties	The successful candidate will oversee the planetarium budgets; the schedule of public shows and shows for regional schools; acquisition of new planetarium programming; supervision of planetarium student workers; public relations with local media outlets; routine maintenance of the planetarium, lobby displays and telescopes; and university use of the planetarium for special events or classes. The candidate will also teach undergraduate lectures and laboratories in Astronomy, maintain a program of scholarly productivity; and assist with departmental and university service. A teaching load reduction is provided for the Planetarium Director's duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:	Five years or more of digital planetarium operation experience is desired. Experience in undergraduate teaching and in distance education is preferred. The Department of Natural Sciences at the Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics, starting September 2016 on our Klamath Falls campus.
