Brief description of job duties
The Society of Physics Students (SPS) at the American Institute of Physics, is seeking a Communications Specialist who will be responsible for the maintenance of the SPS websites and electronic communication, and the non-periodical SPS publications. She/he will also assist with the scheduling for meeting preparation and surface mail efforts as well as any other SPS projects and publications as needed. She/he will be responsible for maintaining and contributing to social networking efforts of the Division; such as Flickr, Twitter, Facebook and other social media applications. Must be willing to travel as needed. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in relevant subject area is required, with substantial physics coursework at least equivalent to a physics minor. Two years experience in web maintenance and familiarity with XHTML specifications, CSS, java scripting, basic UNIX system file commands, and PDF technologies also are required. The ideal candidate will have documented experience in managing and scheduling multi-faceted projects and strong organizational skills to coordinate project development. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers, society representatives, in-house staff, and technical professionals are required. She/he must have the ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
