TT at Augustana College

Augustana College (Sioux Falls, SD) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Physics to begin September 2012. The successful applicant will conduct research involving undergraduates, teach physics courses across the curriculum, and share responsibility for appropriate undergraduate laboratory experiences. A well-developed plan for undergraduate research that has the potential to be supported by external funding is essential. The department has 40-45 physics majors, 15-20 of which participate in undergraduate research each year. Over half of these students will continue on to graduate or professional school, while most of the rest opt for a dual-degree engineering program. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in physics or closely related field, a desire to teach across disciplinary boundaries, and a commitment to the mission of a liberal arts college.
