Physics Lecturer @ Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in China


Applications are invited for positions in the Mathematics and Physics Centre at Xi’an Jiaotong - Liverpool University. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, condensed matter physics and applied physics. Experience in teaching university physics in both Chinese and English would be desirable. Good research track and experience in undertaking research project would be an advantage in this application. Preference may be given to candidates who can contribute expertise in quantum physics, statistical physics, Nano science, and spintronics. Strong mathematics background and/or mathematics teaching experience would be another advantage in this application.
Successful applicants will deliver lectures of university physics in English to year 1 undergraduate students. S/he should undertake appropriate research in both physics and the pedagogical research of physics teaching. It is also expected to manage the laboratories of physics. Good communication skills, team working spirit and a high sense of responsibility are essential. Successful applicants may also be required to undertake other relevant tasks, identified in the first instance by the Head of Centre.
Xi’an Jiaotong - Liverpool University (XJTLU) is a unique collaborative institution, the first and currently the only university in China to offer both UK and Chinese accredited undergraduate degrees. Formed in 2006, the first cohort of students graduated in August 2010. The university now has close to 6,000 students studying in eleven academic departments. The language of instruction in Years 2 to 4 is English. XJTLU aims to become truly research-led, and has recently committed significant investment into research development and the expansion of PhD student numbers on campus.

Salary depends upon qualifications and experience. In addition, members of academic staff are entitled to accommodation and travel allowances.
