Assistant Professor Faculty Position in Physics Department, New Jersey Institute of Technology
As part of a university-wide multi-disciplinary faculty hiring initiative in the area of "big data," the Physics Department of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is searching for a tenure-track assistant professor who will play a leading role in research that involves analysis, data mining, and data visualization of multi-terabyte data sets in the physical sciences. Potential candidates should have a Ph.D. in Physics or a related field, must demonstrate a strong track record in one of the key research areas in the department, and must also be an expert in the development of innovative computational methods in handling large experimental and/or modeling data sets. Currently, the physics department has 18 tenured/tenure-track faculty members with research focusing on Biophysics, Materials Science, Optics and Solar/Terrestrial Astrophysics. The potential candidate must also be able to effectively teach physics at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will initiate significant collaboration with faculty in the Department of Computer Sciences.
