Non-TT Lecturer at University of Pittsburgh

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh is currently seeking qualified applicants for a non-tenure-stream faculty position at the rank of Lecturer, pending budgetary approval. This position is outside of the tenure stream. The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate courses, but primarily introductory, large enrollment, lecture-demonstration courses including those taken by non-science majors. The duties associated with this position would include preparation of course materials, teaching smaller recitation classes, training and supervising graduate students and teaching assistants, and academic program assessment. The candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy. Teaching experience is essential, and postdoctoral research experience is highly desirable. Good communication and writing skills are required. The candidate also should be thoroughly familiar with the use of the internet for instructional purposes. The appointment can begin with the fall term of 2013 (August 26, 2013) or thereafter.
