Assistant/Associate Professor of Education (STEM)
Responsibilities
[Ed note: there are two positions at Winona State, one in physics and one in ed. This is the ed position; physics position is here.]
€Teach undergraduate and graduate teacher education courses in elementary
and secondary STEM methods and/or in other areas consistent with academic
preparation and departmental needs on the Rochester and/or Winona campuses
and in area schools.
€Take leadership in promoting STEM objectives and partnerships.
€Maintain an active program of continuing preparation and professional
development,
€Maintain an active program of scholarship.
€Contribute to continued student development, including advising
individual students and student organizations.
€Engage productively in collaborative committee work with colleagues,
administrators, and members of the community to meet department, college,
and university goals.
€Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with area schools.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must:
€Have a doctorate in Education, STEM Education, Curriculum and
Instruction, or Teacher Education (related degrees considered with formal
training or experience in one or more of these areas. Doctoral residency
or ABD considered with degree to be completed before applying for tenure
(Priority will be given to candidates with formal training and/or
experience in the following: STEM education.)
€Have P-12 teaching experience (public school teaching required).
(Priority will be given to candidates with 4 or more years of teaching
experience in STEM related disciplines.)
€Provide evidence of a commitment to integrating multicultural/global
issues into their teaching. (Priority will be given to candidates who have
work experience with historically underserved populations.)
€Provide evidence of a commitment to integrating current technologies into
their teaching.
€Provide evidence of effective teaching skills and the ability to
communicate clearly and effectively.
€Pass a criminal background check.

€Literacy Education (with English language learners, struggling readers,
historically underserved populations, in clinical and/or site-based
settings)
€Standards-based teaching, CBM, RTI initiatives and/or continuous progress
monitoring
€Culturally responsive teaching practices
