This is a grant funded position.
Duties and Responsibilities: The TIR will serve as mentor and voice of experience for a PhysTEC (Physics Teacher Education Coalition, phystec.org) funded program to support the education of future high school physics teachers. The TIR will co-instruct a Physics Pedagogy course, mentor pre-service teachers and undergraduate learning assistants and serve as liaison with the College of Education. This position is a chance to inspire and train the next generation of teachers while reconnecting with research-based physics pedagogy. Additional opportunities exist based on the applicant's interests.
Ideal candidates include both current teachers and teachers in transition between jobs. We encourage current teachers to contact us to discuss ways to coordinate logistics with their school district and plan for the teacher's temporary leave. The TIR position is a 9-month full-time, non-tenure track faculty position for the 2013-14 academic year.
Qualifications: Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and ability in teaching high school physics or closely related subjects.
- Experience mentoring and training teachers preferred.
