NTT position at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi
Job Description:
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a Professional Assistant Professor of Physics in its Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics or closely related field. The position will include coordination of the Department's Physics program and teaching entry level Physics courses and laboratories for a growing number of students in the programs of the School of Engineering and Computer Sciences, and science majors in the physical and life sciences.
The new faculty will represent the department in the Texas Physics Consortium offering distributed upper level physics courses at several Texas Universities. The applicant will be in charge of supervising and advising students enrolled in the department's minor in Physics. The Texas Physics Consortium, including TAMUCC, is expected to start offering a BS in Physics. The new faculty will be in charge of supervising Physics majors and will be the point of contact for Physics related activities in the College and University.
The position is not a tenure track faculty position, but a long term teaching position in the department. Professional Assistant Professors with appropriate qualifications, experience and performance have the opportunity to advance to higher ranks (Associate, Full).
Preferred Qualifications:
Desired qualifications for the position include experience teaching Physics courses and laboratories, an overall record of effective teaching and introducing teaching innovations and an interest in activities leading to improving the understanding of Physics for our students and the university community at large.
