FT at Santa Clara Univ CA
The Department of Physics at Santa Clara University invites applications
for a Lecturer position beginning in September 2014. The initial
appointment is for three years, and there is a possibility of renewal.
The successful candidate is expected to develop and teach introductory
astronomy courses for non-majors, introductory physics for majors, and
upper-division astrophysics courses for physics majors. S/he is also
expected to engage in service at the departmental level and in
professional activity that is appropriate to the discipline and

excellence in teaching at the university level. Special consideration
will be given to candidates who will be able to facilitate undergraduate
research at SCU or elsewhere. Applicants should hold or expect to
receive a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or a related field by August
2014. Applications should consist of a letter of application, a
curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy and, if available,
evidence of excellence in teaching (e.g., evaluations, syllabi), and a
brief statement of plans for professional activity that could include
but does not require plans for facilitating undergraduate research at
SCU or elsewhere. Please send applications to physics@scu.edu and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to the same address. The application deadline is April 11, 2014. Inquiries about the position should be directed to jbirmingham@scu.edu.
SCU will not sponsor any visa applications for this position, and the
successful candidate must provide evidence of legal authorization to
work for the entire term. More information can be found at http://www.scu.edu/hr/careers/faculty.cfm. Santa
Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic institution, is an Equal
Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer. Women and people of color
