FT at Univ of of Southern Mississippi - Gulf Park campus

Job Summary: The College of Science and Technology and the Department of Physics and Astronomy seeks an instructor to teach introductory physics courses at the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, Miss., and to serve as a lab manager for other introductory science laboratories.

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have three main job responsibilities: to teach two introductory physics classes (with or without calculus) per semester, to supervise the corresponding physics laboratories, and to serve as a lab manager for other introductory science courses. The latter duty will include ordering lab supplies and may include laboratory setup.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include an earned master's or higher degree in physics from an accredited university, 18 graduate semester hours in physics, and evidence of commitment to teaching excellence and student mentoring.

 Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include prior experience teaching introductory college physics courses, prior experience as a lab manager, proficiency with the Blackboard Learning Management platform, and evidence of innovative teaching approaches that will enhance student learning.
