Emporia State University invites applications for an assistant
professor, tenure-track position in the Department of Elementary
Education/Early Childhood/Special Education. The successful applicant
will have the professional education and related professional experience
to teach elementary science and elementary mathematics methods classes
to undergraduates and graduates, incorporating the latest strategies and
methodologies. At the undergraduate level, the applicant will teach in
a face-to-face elementary teacher preparation program, incorporating a
1:1 mobile technology initiative. He or she would also be able to
supervise student teachers in area Professional Development Schools. At
the graduate level, the applicant will teach and advise in an online
master’s program for elementary teachers, with an elementary STEM
concentration.
Preference will be given to applicants who
possess a strong background in science and mathematics, and a doctorate
in STEM Education, Science Education, Mathematics Education, or a
related doctorate with an emphasis in science education and mathematics
education. Ph.D. or ABD with a completion date prior to faculty
appointment required.
Minimum qualifications: minimum of five
years of successful elementary and/or middle school teaching experience;
training in research-based approaches to teach and assess elementary
science and/or mathematics; knowledge and understanding of Common Core
State Standards for Mathematics and/or Next Generation Science
Standards; outstanding collaboration skills; must be willing to provide
service to the Department, The Teachers College, and University;
possess the potential for securing external funds for research,
training, and program development. Other desirable qualifications:
experience teaching elementary science and/or mathematics methods
courses, and experience supervising preservice teachers in field
experiences.
