Position Title:Engineering & Physics-Distance Education, Full-Time, Temporary, Non-Tenure-Track, Lecturer
College InformationThe College of Mathematics and Science currently has 100 full-time and 82 part-time faculty in 7 academic departments. Position Summary:Temporary Lecturer provides a quality learning experience for students. Performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the Lecturer faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Teaching and departmental responsibilities expected. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position for one year.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:Duties include teaching day/evening face-to-face and online undergraduate courses in Physics and service to the department, college, and university as needed.
Responsibilities/ Skills / Competencies:Teaching undergraduate courses in Physics; coordinating the laboratory components for introductory physics, physical science courses, earth science, and descriptive astronomy.
Qualification/ Knowledge/ Experience Required:An earned degree Master’s degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Qualification/ Knowledge/ Experience Preferred:M.S. in Engineering Physics, Engineering or Physics, or related field is required.
Candidate must be certified to teach online courses at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Higher Education teaching experience is preferred.
Physical Demands:Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Talk and hear.
Work EnvironmentThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Salary Range:Commensaurate with credentials and experience.
