Description:The W.M. Keck Science Department (www.kecksci.claremont.edu) of Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges (three of the five undergraduate Claremont Colleges) seeks to hire visiting professor in physics beginning in summer 2016. The position is a one-year appointment with the possibility of continuation. This interdisciplinary department comprises biology, chemistry, neuroscience, physics, and environmental science faculty. The physics discipline oversees an active pre-engineering program. We seek exceptional individuals with demonstrated excellence in both teaching and scholarship. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics or an engineering-related field and be able to teach a wide range of upper-division and entry-level courses. All areas of physics will be considered. The ability to supervise senior thesis research projects is desirable; the ability to teach an astronomy course for non-science majors is also preferred, but not essential. At the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, thirty miles east of Los Angeles, The Claremont Colleges are within a one-hour drive of Caltech, UCLA, USC, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside.
