Description:The W.M. Keck Science Department ( of Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges (three of the five undergraduate Claremont Colleges) seeks to hire visiting professor in physics beginning in summer 2016. The position is a one-year appointment with the possibility of continuation. This interdisciplinary department comprises biology, chemistry, neuroscience, physics, and environmental science faculty. The physics discipline oversees an active pre-engineering program. We seek exceptional individuals with demonstrated excellence in both teaching and scholarship. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics or an engineering-related field and be able to teach a wide range of upper-division and entry-level courses. All areas of physics will be considered. The ability to supervise senior thesis research projects is desirable; the ability to teach an astronomy course for non-science majors is also preferred, but not essential. At the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, thirty miles east of Los Angeles, The Claremont Colleges are within a one-hour drive of Caltech, UCLA, USC, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside.
