The Physics Group at Roanoke College invites applications for a visiting appointment at the rank of either Instructor (ABD) or Assistant Professor (PhD) level, starting in August 2016. Visiting positions are one-year appointments but may be renewable for up to two additional years. Successful candidates must have a strong interest in teaching a wide range of undergraduate physics courses and also contributing to the College’s general education program; evidence of (or potential for) highly effective classroom teaching is required. Candidates should also display a capacity for collaborative student research. Our program is a growing community of learners who value relationship and hands-on application; we are looking for a colleague to share this vision and also to bring new ideas, energy, and expertise.
To apply, submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement, copies of graduate and undergraduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation (at least one must address teaching) to Dr. David Taylor, Chair of the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics, Roanoke College, 221 College Lane, Salem, VA, 24153. Applications may also be submitted electronically by sending PDF copies of the requirement materials to taylor@roanoke.edu (in this case, please have recommenders send their letters individually). All completed applications received by April 4, 2016 will be given full consideration, and applications will be considered on a rolling basis after that deadline.
