Web Announcement | Term Assistant Professor of Physics The George Mason University Department of Physics and Astronomy, within the College of Science, invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a Term Assistant Professor of Physics vacancy. Beginning August 25, 2016, the selected finalist will join a department in which both teaching and service are valued. Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of this nontenure-track position is teaching, with four courses in each of the fall and spring semesters. Candidates should be prepared to teach predominantly laboratory classes in physics. It is expected that the candidate chosen will engage in department service as requested by the Chair. Qualifications: A minimum of a Ph.D. in physics is required. The successful candidate will have an established record of effective teaching, and a demonstrated commitment to physics education excellence. Routine administrative duties, including student advising, are also required. Use of Blackboard and/or other software (e.g., MS PowerPoint and Excel) for the delivery of course content is further required. The position is offered as an initial nine-month appointment, with the possibility of ongoing renewals in subsequent years. A higher rank is possible depending on the qualifications of the candidate. |
