1-Year Instructor, Ball State IN

Ball State University’s Department of Physics and Astronomy is offering a one-year, full-time contract faculty position as Instructor of Physics and Astronomy beginning August 19, 2016. The successful applicant will teach primarily introductory courses and participate in departmental service-related activities of the university at a level associated with a contract-faculty position.

 Major responsibilities:   Teach full-time lecture and laboratory courses primarily in the area of physics education for preservice elementary education majors and/or introductory physics/astronomy; teach upper division undergraduate and graduate-level courses in physics education, physics, and/or astronomy as needed.

Minimum qualifications: Earned MA/MS/MAT in physics education, science education (with an emphasis in physics, or physics (with experience and/or specialization in physics education) at the time of application, from an accredited college or university. Teaching experience at the college level, which may include graduate teaching assistantship assignments; effective communication skills in both classroom and laboratory settings.

Preferred qualifications: A Ph.D. in physics education, physics, or related discipline; experience teaching physics courses for pre-service elementary education majors and/or mentoring pre-service physics teachers.
