Job Title/Job Code: Instructor/9004
Salary Range: $50,000 - $56,000
Application Deadline:  Position will remain open until filled, reveiw of applications will begin on November 14, 2014
The College:  The USFSM College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is composed of a full-time faculty of 32, plus a corps of adjuncts. It delivers eight undergraduate degrees and three graduate degrees, in addition to general education and an honors program. Because the College is not departmentalized, faculty members, as teachers and scholars, enjoy the stimulation of a collaborative interdisciplinary culture.
The Program: The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee (USFSM) delivers a unique B.S. in Biology degree. This small program admits approximately 50 students a year, so classes are small, with faculty teaching both lecture and lab components.  Students in Biology enjoy a well-rounded curriculum that includes courses in chemistry and physics, as well as medical and marine sciences. USFSM also offers a B.S. in Information Technology, delivered mostly online, which includes a physics course in its curriculum.
The Position: This instructor will teach both the lecture and lab components of the two-course sequence in General Physics for science majors, as well as the basic Conceptual Physics course for IT majors and general education students. While all USFSM faculty members are encouraged to pursue research, this is a teaching appointment. The appropriate candidate for this position will enjoy the challenge of being on the ground floor and helping shape a developing program. The competitive candidate will have a record of student-centered, effective teaching.
