TT at Texas A&M Commerce

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas A&M University-Commerce invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2016.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct scholarly research, and provide service to the university and community.  Preference will be given to candidates who are experimental physicists and have a strong interest or demonstrated experience in STEM teacher education, STEM outreach, or physics education research.  Preference will also be given to candidates that have post-doctoral experience, potential for attracting external funding, and previous university-level teaching experience.

The successful candidate will be expected to be a fully participating member of the Department of Physics and Astronomy. The successful candidate will be required to teach undergraduate or graduate courses, prepare syllabi, update course materials as needed, and deliver instruction on-campus and/or online. In addition, faculty are expected to be research active and mentor graduate and undergraduate research students. The new faculty member will be expected to carry out a vigorous, externally-funded research program including supervising undergraduate and graduate research projects, and to participate fully in the teaching program in the department.
