Job Summary: Under general supervision of the Director of STEM Learning Resources, this position coordinates all aspects of the STEM Learning Centers located in multiple campuses of Salt Lake Community College. Develops a team environment, encouraging and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among Regional and Departmental staff. Manages, supervises and coordinates employees' activities by recruiting and training tutors and other learning support staff. Provides coaching and development as needed to tutoring/learning support staff. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the provided services and manages hardware/software status and repair. Establishes work priorities and work schedules as well as approves payroll for employees. Updates and uses relevant knowledge and technology to gather data, prepare reports and make presentations as needed (even at regional of national conferences.) Resolves complaints and handles issues within and across the center(s).
As a service-oriented department, the STEM Learning Resources department collaborates heavily with other SLCC departments/programs. In collaboration with other Learning Center Coordinators this position provides vision and leadership for the STEM Learning Center while also advocating for college success programming. Develops operational rules and procedures for the centers, participates in CRLA certifications through designing and teaching classes and tracking and monitoring tutor progress. Maintains records and record-keeping materials as well as tracking systems data. Creates and disseminates promotional materials. In collaboration with Associate Deans, Faculty and Advisors this position identifies students who need standard and/or specialized tutoring. Monitors quality assurance and evaluates the effectiveness of the provided services. Ensures that tutors meet required qualifications by incorporating the suggestions of subject-matter experts and collaborates with academic departments in incorporating learning support into course design. Finally, this position assists the Director in preparing the center's budget, requisitions, and any grant writing/reporting. Designs and implements facilities plans as well as maintains research-supported programming consistent with institutional learning outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Screen, interview, recommend, train, schedule, monitor and supervise MSTRC Tutors. Create schedules and maintain MSTRC records.
Provide assistance to students in courses offered by the School of SME; Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Physics, Geosciences, Engineering Technology, Engineering, Fit Tech and Mathematics. Provide assistance to faculty and students in using graphing calculators, computers and other science and Math technology.
Coordinate, schedule and supervise maintenance of computer equipment, software library, text books, solution manuals and other learning tools.
Maintain appropriate atmosphere in the MSTRC to promote group and individual student learning.
Communicate with staff about methods of tutoring, instructional and tutorial strategies, schedules, expectations, individual instructor and student needs, resources and textbooks.
Assist in the planning and implementation of special events (SME Symposium). Attend the meetings and assist with technology projects and other Math, Science & Technology Center projects and innovations. Undertake professional development in Mathematics and Science.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor 's degree in Science, Mathematics or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Two (2) - four (4) years of direct, paid, full-time work experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Science, Mathematics or closely-related field from an accredited college or university.
Six (6) plus (+) years of related full-time experience.
Knowledge of grant writing and administration processes.
Familiarity with Universal Design for teaching and learning.

Job Summary: Under general supervision of the Director of STEM Learning Resources, this position coordinates all aspects of the STEM Learning Centers located in multiple campuses of Salt Lake Community College. Develops operational rules and procedures for the centers, participates in CRLA certifications through designing and teaching classes and tracking and monitoring tutor progress. Provide assistance to faculty and students in using graphing calculators, computers and other science and Math technology.
Coordinate, schedule and supervise maintenance of computer equipment, software library, text books, solution manuals and other learning tools.
Maintain appropriate atmosphere in the MSTRC to promote group and individual student learning.
Communicate with staff about methods of tutoring, instructional and tutorial strategies, schedules, expectations, individual instructor and student needs, resources and textbooks.

General Statement of Duties: The Physics Faculty is a creative, knowledgeable and flexible individual who will develop and teach courses in Physics (both Algebra and Calculus based) and related disciplines to a diverse student body within the STEM division. The faculty will be teach project based courses to both liberal arts and STEM students. The faculty member will work with STEM division staff, administration and faculty to develop student learning outcomes and assessment strategies, and will participate in college service and student advisement. The successful candidate will be committed to inclusive excellence and diversity, and continuous professional improvement.
Essential Functions:
- Teach courses in Physics and related disciplines on all MCC campuses.
- Participate in ongoing curriculum review, assessment, and development.
- Develop instructional material consistent with course, program and institutional student learning outcomes and apply innovative instructional approaches, in order to achieve student learning outcomes.
- Develop and apply instructional methods that engage a diverse student body of varying learning styles and abilities, and promote critical thinking and other employability skills.
- Integrate available science instrumentation and computer-based experiments into the classroom.
- Develop and apply technology in and out of the classroom, including use of the BlackBoard Learning Management System for web-based, hybrid, or computer-enhanced classes.
- Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and effectively measure student learning outcomes.
- Incorporate high impact practices such as learning communities, undergraduate research, service learning and collaborative projects as part of pedagogical practices.
- Support and foster a culture of civic learning and community engagement.
- Participate in division and college committees and activities.
- Provide developmental advising to students in STEM disciplines to help students assess their skills, interests and aptitudes; identify realistic career goals and develop an educational plan.
- Fulfill terms of the faculty contract as set out in the Agreement between the Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council/Massachusetts Teachers Association

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physics and a Master's Degree in a related discipline.
- Successful teaching experience, and a demonstrated ability to teach Physics in a lecture and laboratory setting
- Experience in the organization and management of the laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of outcomes assessment and assessment techniques in education.
- Ability to apply innovative instructional approaches, in order to achieve stated course objectives and student learning outcomes.
- Commitment to continuous professional improvement.
- Ability to collaborate and work collegially with faculty from all disciplines.
- A demonstrated interest in the use of inclusive pedagogies and high impact practices to foster student success and close achievement gaps
- Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.

- Successful teaching at a community college

Additional Information:
This is a full-time faculty position with benefits.
Salary: The Full-Time Faculty salary under the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement is based on the classification placement table with a base salary of $45,996; actual salary will be determined in accordance with the classification system of the MCCC/MTA Agreement based on the candidate's academic credentials, related experience, related licenses and certifications. FT Lecturer, Washington University in St. Louis, MO
The Department of Physics at Washington University in St. Louis seeks a full time (12 month) lecturer, beginning as early as July 1, 2017. Responsibilities primarily include teaching two sections of an active learning introductory calculus-based physics sequence. In addition, the lecturer will work with other faculty teaching in an active learning format to provide additional help services to students, and to oversee and assist with aspects of course management. Other duties may include physics outreach and other departmental responsibilities, as needed. This non-tenure-track faculty position is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal in subsequent years.
Required Qualifications
