TT at University of Northern Colorado





This tenure-track position requires a Ph.D. in physics or astronomy, or a Ph.D. in science education with significant graduate coursework in physics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach science methods courses, supervise student teachers, and teach physics and/or astronomy courses for science and non-science majors. Strength in teaching and professional activity, involvement of undergraduates in research, and service to the profession and university are also expected. A history of involvement in K-12 science education is desirable.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. in physics or astronomy, or a Ph.D. in science education with significant graduate coursework in physics.
  • Ability to teach science methods courses, supervise student teachers, and teach physics and/or astronomy courses for science and non-science majors.
  • Demonstrated strength in teaching and professional activity.
  • Plan for an active research program involving undergraduates.
  • Evidence of service to the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
A history of involvement in K-12 science education.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits available include health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Satisfactory completion of a background check, educational check, and authorization to work in the United States is required after a conditional offer of employment has been made. The successful candidate must submit original transcripts within one (1) month of hire.
