The University of
Washington Bothell (UWB) seeks a dynamic researcher/educator to join the
fast-growing Physical Sciences Division of the School of Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We are seeking
candidates for a 50% tenure-track Assistant Professor on a nine-month
academic year basis beginning January 2019. Successful candidates are
expected to develop an externally sponsored research program in Physics
Education Research (PER), to teach, and to provide academic advising to
students. A 50% tenure-track position means that the University will
provide 4.5 months of salary per year with the candidate obtaining
additional academic year and/or summer salary funding through grants and
contracts. This position carries all other rights and responsibilities
of an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington and the
candidate would go through a process for promotion and tenure with the
timeline set by university policy.
The University of Washington Bothell has a new undergraduate degree in
physics and is seeking to build strength in this program. Faculty in the
Physical Sciences Division of the School of STEM are expected to
possess strong teaching, research, and mentoring skills and enthusiastic
incorporation of undergraduates into their research program. Faculty
are expected to encourage and support a diverse population of students
and have knowledge of modern pedagogic methods.
