Position Description PHYSICS DEPARTMENT, TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION IN PHYSICS EDUCATION RESEARCH. The Physics Department invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track position at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, beginning 9/12/2019. Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach undergraduate physics or astronomy and to maintain an active research program in Physics Education Research (PER) that can involve undergraduates. Of special interest to the Department and the University are candidates who can contribute to our efforts to create inclusive instructional and research environments and/or make scholarly, discipline-specific contributions to issues of diversity and inclusion. 

Cal Poly strongly values diversity and inclusion, especially in the classroom and among its areas of study. This PER search will occur at the same time as a university‐wide cluster of searches designed to increase curricular coverage of areas related to diversity and inclusion, as well as to promote inclusive teaching strategies across the university. If the successful PER candidate's research overlaps with the area of diversity and inclusion, they will have the opportunity to join and support these university efforts.  
Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only)  
Required Qualifications / Specialized Skills A Ph.D. in physics, physics education research, or related field is required and must be completed prior to start of appointment. Must provide evidence of (or potential for) high-quality teaching and be active in the field of PER. Rank and salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Special Conditions (Staff) Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
