The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York invites applications for a tenured engineering education research faculty position (associate or full professor) in materials science and engineering (MSE).

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in materials science and engineering, or a closely related field, or STEM education. Candidates must

In 1868, Ezra Cornell wrote, “I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study.” To continue to meet our educational, research, and service goals, and to meet our commitment to our founding principle, we are seeking faculty members who share our historical commitment to pursuing knowledge for “…any person …in any study.” Senior candidates with exceptional accomplishments in engineering or science education research, teaching, and graduate student mentorship are encouraged to apply. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Cornell has a growing community of scholars engaged in Engineering Education Research (EER) and Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) across the sciences and engineering. The recently established Duffield Engineering Education Research Institute provides a community for and an institutional investment in research, collaboration, and action. The Institute focuses on how engineers learn, how innovation can shape educational systems, and how evidence can be used to improve teaching, learning, and the professional formation of engineers.
